Word Power

A child’s rhyme goes something like this:

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words can never hurt me

How very untrue, this phrase. Words are very powerful. They are heard and read, then interpreted and processed and sometimes internalized. They persuade and console, they inspire and inform. And yes, they even hurt us.

And to the one who read my words and was hurt, I am profoundly sorry.
