Tweets and leaves

According to this Gearlog post, Twitter is abuzz with opinions about what they think real men should do, or what a real man is like.  These types of thematic threads contributed to my eventual boredom with microblogging.  It was fun while it lasted, but the noise was distracting.

I’ve been thinking about this concept of noise recently, and craving some relief – whether noise in the form of data overload, background stuff through which we slog for nuggets (such as Twitter), or literal noise from devices like televisions.

Yesterday morning I sat on the back deck, looking at the heavy fog, listening to the woodpeckers visiting my neighbor’s trees.  It was a perfect moment.
