The trip to India started early Saturday morning – the airport shuttle picked me up at 4:30 am.
After 15ish hours it’s Sunday afternoon in Abu Dhabi airport, where I am laying over for a couple of hours waiting for my flight to Delhi.
One can literally lay over (or more correctly, lay down) in rentable sleep pods here at the airport. The Finnish design looks quite humane and secure, and if my layover was slightly longer I would certainly take advantage of this practical amenity.
Duty free shopping in the airport is pretty standard though the cigarette prices are good – the price of a carton less than 1/3 of US prices.
The most interesting sight from this terminal is the neatly curved air traffic control tower. I tried to capture a picture through the terminal window but my limited photography skills and equipment failed to accurately capture a representation of the beautiful modernity of this structure.
