This is what we picked for the flooring: 3/4″ x 4-3/4″ maple in random lengths.  This will unify the flooring front front to back of the ground floor and update the heavily-scratched bamboo we installed 10 years ago under the mistaken belief that it could be refinished.  

Demolition on the old kitchen starts Monday.  I’ll be at work that day, and look forward to seeing the progress when I arrive home that evening.
